Allan Pessier was one of the recipients of the first annual Dr.-Frank-Mutschmann-Award given by the German Association of Amphibian and Reptile Veterinarians for the best paper on amphibian medicine published within the last 12 months. The paper published in PLoS One described experimental studies of water composition in the development of spindly leg syndrome, which is an important limiting factor to successful captive breeding of amphibian species.
