Meet the Class of 2021: Holly Hopkins

Oct 17, 2020
Chances are fourth-year veterinary student Holly Hopkins would rather spend time with family and friends, and it’s even better when a cow or a horse is involved.
Holly admits she was terrified of birds up until a few weeks ago when she completed WSU’s exotic animal rotation. Now, she’s not afraid of any species. Holly grew up in Ontario, Ore. When she was young, she remembers taking animals from her family’s ranch to her family’s vet at Weiser Veterinary Clinic. This spring after Holly claims her DVM, she will be working full-time at that same mixed animal practice. “Owning that many animals led to veterinary visits and meeting the incredible staff at our local clinic,” Holly said. “I wanted to be like them and help people help their animals, no matter what species.” Holly has worked off and on at the clinic for seven years. She has three Pembroke Welsh corgis; Hussy, Waylon, and Furgie; a border collie named Iggy; 10 horses; and 15 head of cattle, with plans for more.
