Dr. David Prieur, professor and long-time chair of the Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology, passed away peacefully at his home in Pullman on Saturday, December 19.
David earned his Ph.D. in veterinary pathology from WSU in 1971 and joined the National Institutes of Health. Three years later, he returned to WSU as a faculty member in the Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology. He taught hundreds of students, conducted nationally recognized research on genetic diseases of animals served as department chair from 1987-2013. He was considered “a chair for the faculty,” always supporting faculty to achieve their goals and find where they made a difference.
He and his wife, Kris, have been loyal supporters of WSU and the College of Veterinary Medicine over the years. Prior to his death, they were working to establish a named endowment to support the Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology department into the future.
