Meet the Class of 2021: Aaron Deml
Apr 8, 2021
In his spare time, Aaron Deml performs stand-up comedy at Etsi Bravo in downtown Pullman.
Other times, he’s feeding his fascination with small animal medicine, specifically internal medicine and canine theriogenology.
But no matter what he’s doing, he feels at home on the Palouse.
“Whether it be an afternoon or night at The Coug, or at a football game or just being around campus, WSU and Pullman will always be a second home and I plan on returning often,” Aaron said.
Aaron completed his undergraduate degree in animal science at WSU. After earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, the Camas, Washington, product will practice small animal medicine at Craig Road Animal Hospital in Las Vegas.
“I love being able to see people light up about their pets, hearing all the stories and seeing the love people have for their animals,” Aaron said. “I hope to be able to strengthen that bond throughout my career. I also love the puzzles that medicine creates and solving those. The puppies don't hurt either!”
Growing up right off the Columbia River, he is amped to get on the water this summer, and the Mojave Desert may help drive that desire.
Aaron said he hopes on getting a boat to wakeboard and wakesurf “as soon as responsibly possible.”
He’s also a hiker, backpacker, a new skier, and he and his finance, Kady, a third-year veterinary student, are dedicated Cougar football fans.
That won’t change in Vegas.
Aaron’s dog, a 2-year-old Nova Scotia duck tolling retriever named Stark; his cat, Noodle, 1; and Fran, a 4-year-old leopard gecko, who may be the most excited about the move, will also make the trip to the desert.
