Evelyn Rowe

The WSU College of Veterinary Medicine is one of the only veterinary colleges in the nation with undergraduate programs. Mondays this academic year we will share stories from our undergraduate students, starting with biochemistry student Evelyn Rowe! Evelyn was recently accepted into the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine Honors College Pathway program, meaning she has been given a conditional acceptance into the WSU medical School. “I hope to perform surgery in whatever field I ultimately choose, and am leaning toward gynecology, dermatology, or cardiology,” she said. You may see Evelyn this fall at WSU football games doing her favorite thing - cheering on the Cougs as a member of the WSU Cheer team.

  1. Where are you from and where did you graduate high school?
I am from Spokane and graduated from Cheney High School. I am pursuing a degree in biochemistry, pre-medicine.

  2. What are some of your favorite hobbies?
One of my favorite hobbies is being a member of the WSU cheer team. My team members are my best friends and I have so much fun challenging myself in different stunts and tumbling on and off the field with them. I also enjoy getting involved within my sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta. When I am not busy studying, cheering, or with my sorority, I love to watch Netflix. “Outer Banks” and “Vampire Diaries” are two shows that I am watching right now.

  3. What’s your favorite thing about WSU?
My favorite thing about WSU is Cougar football Saturday in Martin Stadium. We have the BEST fans in the country no doubt. They show genuine passion and love for our school, athletics, and the Pullman community as a whole. I could not be prouder to represent WSU on game days.

  4. What’s your favorite course you’ve taken at WSU?
My favorite course taken at WSU was Spanish 102 with professor Charles Toye. He made learning Spanish fun and taught us so much about the Spanish-speaking countries he’s visited. I now have a travel bug! Even though he doesn’t teach here anymore, he set up a Zoom meeting on his own time to help me prepare for Spanish 203.

  5. What’s a unique fun fact about you?
I lettered in golf in high school.

  6. What are your career goals?
I want to be a doctor one day. I was recently accepted into the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine Honors College Pathway program, which means I have been given a conditional acceptance to the WSU Medical School. I hope to perform surgery in whatever field I ultimately choose, and am leaning toward gynecology, dermatology, or cardiology.

  7. Do you have any pets?
I have an English bulldog puppy; her name is Sophie! I have a million other nicknames for her, like “Miss Squishy.”

  8. What’s one of your favorite things?
One of my favorite things is cooking. I love using fresh ingredients to make a healthy and delicious meal. After I cook, I could always go for some ice cream!
